Research Topics

My research interests are scientific computing in general and specifically numerical linear algebra, numerical methods and their parallelization. Major areas are:

  • Iterative methods for the solution of linear systems of equations
  • Multigrid methods (algebraic and geometric, especially (convergence) theory, various applications)
  • Structured matrices (particularly iterative methods for Toeplitz matrices and circulant matrices, problems with tensor structure)
  • Parallel solvers and preconditioners (particularly highly scalable methods for current supercomputers)
  • Particle simulation methods and their parallelization (particularly for long-ranged Coulomb interactions, methods for current supercomputers)
